VarsityType is a font foundry rooted in the development of well-rounded typefaces for the world of sport. We are heavily inspired by the iconic collegiate block style that has ingrained itself in American culture and has been synonymous with athletics for over a century. The style wonderfully intersects form, function, and presence — a formula for impactful typography that we live by. On a stage where typography is a crucial part of the game, VarsityType crafts industry-specific fonts that are designed to give any project a competitive edge.
The foundry was born from an archive of custom typography that was created by Zilligen Design Studio for various projects throughout the years. In October of 2017, "Redzone Classic" was released on CreativeMarket under the ZDS studio name. A few years later in August of 2019, the archive became VarsityType. With a growing library and over 4,000 downloads, VarsityType has produced typefaces that have been implemented in brand identities, worn on player uniforms, spotted on store shelves, and blasted on broadcast television in front of millions of viewers.
